Shirley Mae Harris

Shirley Mae Harris entered eternal rest on December 18, 2015 in Dallas, TX. She was born on February 20, 1960 to Mamie Nelson in Hughes, Ar. Shirley had a favorite quote being, “Life is Peachy.” She loved to draw, loved music and loved her dog, Shadow. She was a singer in the group Smiling Four Quartet and the Singing Wonders. Shirley will be remembered for her smile and positivity. She has taught her family that a family that prays together, stays together. Shirley was a very religious lady and read a scripture everyday as follows: Lord, let me rise in the morning with Thanksgiving and joy. For through the night you’ve kept me from tragedy and harm. Lord, let me start each day with meditation on you knowing you will be with me all the day through. And as I meet others, keep a smile upon my face. Help me to love…… unconditionally as you’ve done through your grace. Help me to not be judgmental. Since others shoes, I’ve not walked in, let me show through words and actions. What it means to be a friend. Let me give words of encouragement to those who are in need. Lord, use me as your vessel. Use me as you please. And if I meet a challenge as I travel on my way, let me look , at once, to you Lord. And from your promises, let not my mild stray. For I know no matter how hard the battle, no matter how cold the way may seem I will be VICTORIOUS for you’ll be with me to the end. Shirley is predeceased by her husband, Paul and is survived by her daughter, Paula (Reynaldo) Jordan-Hill and Sherreta (Kevin) Harris; sisters, Brenda Murray, Deborah Jordan, Pearlie (Rev. Clayton) Willis and Sheila Curtis; brothers, Robert McNeely, William McNeely, Alfred (Belinda) Lathrop and Kenneth (Adrian)Lathrop; as well as 5 granddaughters and 2 grandsons. As Shirley is remembered, she says to her family and friends, “I love you man!” A Visitation will be held on December 28, 2015 at Metrocrest Funeral Home, Carrollton, TX from 4:00 -8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will held in her honor at Friendship Baptist Church in Carrollton, TX on December 29, 2015 at 11:00 am. Inurnment to follow at a later date.
