James was born September 29, 1963 in Missoula, Montana. James was the son of Audrey Stegmeier Schmitt and the late Helmuth Schmitt.
James was preceded in death by this father Helmuth.
James was survived by his wife Lisa Standridge of Bismarck, Arkansas, his daughter Katelyn Schmitt of Puyallup, Washington, three step daughters, Candace Standridge and (Charlie), Madison Hardage and (Matthew), Alora Dannon Winters and (James), three grandchildren Karol Standridge, Aiden Hardage and Ryan Hardage and one granddaughter, Eleanora who is due to arrive in a few short weeks.
His twin sister, Jaleen Schmitt and (Craig) of Puyallup Washington, three bothers Randall Schmitt and (Billi) of Eatonville, Washington, Todd Schmitt and (Rebecca) of Graham, Washington and William Hans Schmitt and (Alexa) of Spokane Valley, Washington and a host of nieces, step nieces and nephews, family and friends.
A very dear friend and second father figure to James was Ronnie Hunt of Hot Springs Arkansas.
James had family and friends from Washington to Montana, to Arkansas and many places in-between who thought the world of James. To know James was to love him.
James graduated from Bismarck High School in Bismarck, Arkansas in 1980 and afterwards received a degree in mechanics. James moved to Washington and worked there and in Montana for many years before returning back to what James referred to as "home" Bismarck, Arkansas in July 2016.
James spend his life working as a large engine mechanic. At the present time James was an employee of Briggs equipment in Little Rock, Arkansas.
James was also very talented in carpentry, he spent much of his spare time helping others build and repair their homes, shops and other wood working projects.
James had a passion for animals and the great outdoors, mountains, rivers, lakes anything from camping, fishing to float trips.
James has enjoyed the past several years on the banks of the Caddo River near Amity, Arkansas which was his favorite place to spend time living life to its fullest with Lisa and his favorite dog Tilly playing in the river and making every step James took.
James was fun loving and a very caring person. He woke each day with a smile on his face and a kind word to everyone he met, that kindness did not fade throughout the day.
James was a people person. He loved life and making those around him feel loved, comfortable, safe and happy. His deep love for others will be truly missed but James was also a Christian man so let us all take comfort in the fact that one day we will again celebrate with James in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of James Lynn Schmitt will be held on September 14, 2019 at 6:00 pm at Degray Lake Caddo Bend area in Bismarck, Arkansas.
