With profound sadness we announce the passing of Dolores Carr. She was a loving and devoted mother, Gram, Great Gram and friend to all whose lives she touched. Dolores passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
She was met in heaven by her son Jimmy Carr, her parents Ray and Pauline Janowski, our Grandma Sarah Carr, her brother Raymond Janowski, sister Geraldine (and Paul Paulsen), Dan Rodowsky, Walt Hanrahan, Larry and Gerry Koch, Barry Koch, Gerald Koch, along with generations of family she brought back to life for us all in her extensive genealogy research.
She is survived by her sisters Rosalie Hanrahan and Lorraine Rodowsky; her children Michael, Kevin, Frank, Brian, Terry and Kathy; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and of course, the dog (Name still contested as either Charlie or Lenny).
Mom liked nothing more than to have her house packed with family, so her house was the scene of many big family dinners. It was a bit intimidating for new people to come into the organized chaos, but everyone was welcome just the same. Of course, the newest person to our group had to bake the rolls. There were no exceptions nor relief until someone new came along.
Christmas was where she shined, often setting up a couple trees with one for the kids. Each Christmas everyone knew they were taking home at least 1 Christmas ornament, like it or not. And if the kids weren’t there for Christmas, you can bet their parents were given an ornament for them. In her passing, she has left us the mother-load of ornaments yet to be passed out.
Each summer Mom would set out on her “Lost Relatives Tour” of the upper east coast. She would visit her sisters and their families and would also visit her more distant cousins in upstate NY to chase down those lost links in her genealogy reports.
Her Genealogy research wasn’t just limited to immediate family. Oh no. Nobody was safe from her in depth and tenacious research. Within weeks she would have a hundred years of family history on in-laws, friends, neighbors, friends of friends… just about anyone that asked. The finest FBI research team had nothing on her.
Of course, she loved her St. Vincent de Paul family. Being part of this tremendous group of people brought her great joy and comfort to her servant heart in her later years.
She was treasured and loved by so many and will be missed.
