Cecil L Koesling (8/12/1921-2/23/2015), 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family February 23, 2015. Loving husband preceded in death by Dorothy, his beautiful wife of 50 years, and his son Douglas Patrick. He is survived by his brother, James, five children, Roxanne Keefer (Gene), Michael (Debi), Donald (Marcia), Susie Santana (Bill), Julie Franco (Bruce), eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who will miss their “Poppie”.
Cecil was the eldest of eleven children of the late Louis and Katheryn Koesling. He was born and raised in Barnesville, MN until he enlisted in the U.S. Army to serve our country during World War II. He was a decorated veteran, serving three campaigns in the South Pacific. Upon returning from the war he began his career in the aviation industry. Cecil relocated his family to the Dallas area in 1963 to continue his life long career with Braniff Airways and retired from KC Aviation.
A man of honor and integrity, he valued his wife, family, friends, and his Catholic Faith. Cecil had a gift for woodworking, crossword puzzles, gardening his famous pickles, dancing, travel, good cigars and a dry martini at the end of the day. We will remember him for his humor, gentle smile, and that twinkle in his eye.
The family would like to thank the care takers at Lake Forest Good Samaritan for their kindness and gentle care to “Pops” during the last few years of his life.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Rhoton Funeral Home 1511 Interstate 35 E., Carrollton, Texas from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church 2800 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, Texas. 75234
Burial will follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, 75220
