Billie and her husband, Richard, have lived in Farmers Branch for the past 44 years and would have celebrated 45 years of marriage in June.
Billie was born on November 30, 1930 in Krum, Texas to Claude and Dora Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, two brothers, and her son Dennis Whitehead.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard; one daughter Michelle Whitehead (Farmers Branch); one son Claude Whitehead and wife Nancy (Fairview); as well as two grandchildren, Kelli Moerschell and husband Joe (Dallas), Holly Viles and husband Nathan (Allen), three great-grandchildren, Zack and Andrew Moerschell, and Oliver Viles, and one sister, Thelma Bruce (Aubry).
Billie’s early years found her working for several finance companies, McCarty, Southland and Aetna. Then, in 1977 she turned her talents to Real Estate, spending her remaining career with Century 21 until retiring in 2010.
Billie liked to shop, and could spend all day in a department store with a smile on her face. Actually most of the things she purchased were for others. I guess it was just the thought of being able to see and feel all the new things each store had to offer that made her happy.
In 1995, Billie successfully battled breast cancer, but in 2016 she was diagnosed with non-surgical pancreatic cancer.
The family would especially like to thank Laurie Watson for her loving care during the last year of Billie’s life. As Billie would say when Laurie would come into the house “Is that my Laurie!”.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 5pm to 8pm, and the funeral services Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Valwood Park Baptist Church, 2727 Valwood Pkwy, Farmers Branch, TX at 1pm.
