Obituary of Sandra Kay "Sandy" Cannon
Sandra Kay “Sandy” Cannon passed away peacefully on October 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience. Born on July 8, 1947, Sandy lived a full and productive life, embracing each day with passion and diligence. On September 21, 1974, Sandy married the love of her life, Robert O. Cannon. Together they shared a loving partnership bound by adventure, cherished memories and family. Among their favorite experiences was traveling to Austria, a place that captured Sandy’s heart and inspired her with its majesty and beauty. Sandy and Bob also loved to dance to Sinatra-era music. Known for her commitment to family, her strong work ethic and energy, Sandy was a dedicated homemaker and friend who touched many lives. Sandy was pre-deceased by her loving parents, Lillian and John McGoran, her cherished sister and brother-in-law, Margaret “Cookie” and Richard “Dick” McGuinness, Aunt Ceil Darrah and Uncle Johnny Enders. Bob Cannon passed in 2015 and stepson, Lawrence George Cannon, in 2021. Sandy is survived by Robert and and Roxanne Cannon of Coppell, Texas; James and Jane Cannon, of Carmel, Indiana, Debbie Cannon of New Palestine, Indiana and 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. While attending St. Andrews Grade School and Scecina High School, Sandy formed many lifelong friendships that helped shape her passionate approach to her life’s vocations. A woman of great faith, Sandy was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Indianapolis. A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5884 N. Crittenden Ave., Indianapolis, IN, with a visitation from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM, where friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of Sandy’s remarkable journey. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sandy’s memory may be made to Heartland Hospice or New Hope of Indiana.
