Robert Lee “Bob” Stevens 63, Noblesville, IN – was gregarious, kind, and gentle, funny, playful, and big hearted. He was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, who loved his faith, family, and friends deeply and will be cherished in the hearts of many.
He died peacefully at home with his loved ones beside him on March 9, 2022, after a brief battle with liver cancer. Born in Indianapolis to the late Robert E. and Marjorie J. Stevens, Bob was the 3rd of 8 children who grew up in Carmel, Indiana. He graduated from Carmel High School in 1976.
Bob joined the Marines in his early 20’s and upon his discharge, he started a 34-year long career in the automotive manufacturing industry with Standard Locknut in Carmel, IN. He retired in 2017 from MSW after 19 years there as a Quality Manager. He built lifelong friendships during his career.
Bob married Gretta Pearson in 2017 and eventually became a volunteer at Riverview Hospital. He was very happy to have the opportunity to serve patients by transporting them to procedures and appointments, sharing words of encouragement and funny anecdotes with every trip. It made him happy to be a ray of sunshine to many during their medical visits. Bob also found great joy visiting his mother at St. Augustine’s Home for the Aged. He brought excitement and laughter to the residents and their family members, staff, and volunteers with each visit.
His family gathered and spent a recent afternoon visiting with Bob eating, laughing, and taking many photos. The sun shined brightly and the temperatures broke records. It was a blessed day. During his last days, stories and laughter were shared, loving and tender moments were lived; all while taking in some of his most beloved artists like Neil Young, Crosby Stills and Nash, Cat Stevens, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and the Eagles.
Bob loved music and being outdoors. He also loved animals and in the last year, he and Gretta adopted a 4-year-old pit mix named Iris and their bond was instant. Iris was by his side to the end.
Bob was proceeded in death by his father, Robert Edwin Stevens and nephews, Christopher Michael Stevens, and Robert Ryan Powell.
He is survived by his wife, Gretta Stevens, his daughter, SuEllyn Stevens & granddaughter, Emma Hobbs of Cape Coral, FL, his mother Marjorie J.
