Margie Ann Leonard, 84, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, and aunt, of North Fort Myers, Florida and formerly of Painesville, Ohio, died with family at her side on January 29, 2020.
Born in Painesville, Ohio on January 21, 1936, she lived there with her late husband Willard (Gabe) Leonard until his retirement in 1983 when they relocated to North Fort Myers, FL. She was a former Real Estate Agent in Ohio and retired Clinic Assistant from the School District of Lee County.
Margie was an avid sports fan and the joy of her life was racing. Going to the race track to watch her sons and grandsons carry-on the family tradition of racing stock cars, and playing bingo with her daughter and friends, or a family card game were the highlights of her week.
Margie was the heart and soul of the Leonard family and loved being surrounded by family making new memories and reminiscing about old ones. She had a great influence on her family and graced everyone she knew with her humor and unconditional love; she always made time for family near and far, and enjoyed cooking special dishes for loved ones and sharing her special recipes with the next generation.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Willard (Gabe) Leonard; sons; Guy Leonard and Ronald Leonard; stepson Willard (Butch) Leonard, Jr., and brothers Edward (Eddie) Gallagher, William (Billy) Gallagher, and Donald (Donnie) Gallagher.
Margie is survived by her sons; John Leonard of Ashtabula, OH, Shane (Heather) Leonard of Cape Coral, FL; daughters, Mary (Bob) Waltz of North Fort Myers, FL, Angel Sandor of Cape Coral, FL, and Linda (Tom) McAtee of Alva, FL; stepsons, Frank (Chris) Leonard of Painesville, OH; stepdaughters, Donna Phillips and Vicky (Gary) Clark both of Painesville, OH, and Patty Moore of Fairport, OH, daughter in law, Sharra Leonard of Cape Coral, FL. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister Eleanor Leonard of Painesville, OH and brother Mickey Gallagher of Myrtle Beach, SC.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 7, 2020 from 12-2 pm with the services beginning at 2pm at Coral Ridge Funeral Home, burial will follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery.
