Elaine Ruth Friedman

Elaine Friedman, 84, of Cape Coral, FL passed away on January 14, 2019 at American House Coconut with her family by her side. She had been ill recently with Vascular Dementia. Born in 1934 in Johnstown, PA she was the daughter of Ben and Anna (Suchman) Shultz (both deceased).Elaine was the wife of Melvin Friedman (deceased) and Ron Rothstein (deceased). Elaine had a long and successful career in banking during her time in Cleveland, OH and in Cape Coral, FL.

Elaine was loved and admired by her friends and family. She is survived by her children, Neal (Marilyn) Rothstein, Larry (Georgia) Rothstein, Karen (Steve) Rothstein and Stuart (Nancy) Rothstein. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Don (Marilyn, deceased), sister in-law Marlene (Jerry, deceased).

Elaine was a grandmother of 11 and a great-grandmother of 15. She spent most of her spare time entertaining and visiting her very large family. Following her business career, she retired in Cape Coral with her husband Mel where they had a large group of close friends. She was very active in the Red Hats Club as a member and planner of events and her mahjong group.

Elaine will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She was a kind soul and always willing to help others. She was known as the “cool grandmother” because she was always current with the events of the day.
