David Lee Root

Dave retired as a Sergeant First Class serving in the Army National Guard in New Jersey and Florida, after 20 years of service to our country. He worked for U.P.S. as a driver in Vero Beach, Florida. Dave also owned Root and Sons Lawn Care in Vero Beach, Florida.

Dave had a passion for fishing and spending time on the water. He along with his wife, Debbie moved to Pine Island where they owned D & D Matlacha Bait, Tackle and Marina, for the past 18 years. He loved spending time with his family and close friends, especially his grandson Brody that he adored. He will be missed deeply by his wife of 38 years his family, and all that knew Dave. He was funny and had a great sense of humor that we all will miss.

He is preceded in death by his father George Root and his beloved son David Lee Root, Jr.

He is survived by his loving family including his wife, Debbie Root; sons, Douglas Michael Root of Cape Coral, Dustin Robert Root of Cape Coral; brothers, Chris Root of Texas, Mark Root of N.J.; mother Donna Root of N.J.; father-in-law, Bob Mansfield of Bokeelia; many aunts and uncles; several nieces and nephews in Texas, Florida and New Jersey.
