Wayne went home to the Lord on September 26, 2022, in Tyler, Texas. He was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on September 6, 1925, to Houston Fount Vick and Katie Pauline Sides Vick. Wayne married Laura Nell Faglie on September 30, 1944, and they enjoyed 42 wonderful years together. Wayne was a very hard worker all through his life. He proudly served his country during World War II as a marine in the south pacific on the USS Miami. He served the postal service for 31 years as a rural mail carrier before retiring and then enjoyed working his farm full of peaches and pecans every day. During these years of service, Wayne never met a stranger. He married Joyce Walker Arnold on July 4, 1987, and they shared 29 amazing years. He was always positive and treated everyone the same. Wayne was a proud member of Little Hope Baptist Church for 91 years and a dedicated man of faith. He married his current wife, Sharon Price Brunner on July 8, 2017. He loved his family, his church and all the people in it.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents Houston and Katie Vick; his adored first wife, Laura Nell Vick, his dear second wife, Joyce Arnold Vick; brothers, Edwin F. Vick and wife, Elsie, Billy Joe Vick and wife, Patty; brothers-in-law, Ben Faglie and wife, Imo Lee, Bill G. Faglie and wife, Vondell, Charles Faglie and wife, Julia.
Wayne is survived by his cherished family: wife, Sharon Diane Vick; daughter, Janice Arnold and husband, Ronnie; son, Larry Vick and wife, Paulette; grandchildren: Ronda Arnold, Adam Arnold and wife, Alex, Veda Charlton and husband, Shawn, Max Corson, Tina Yardley, Seth Corson, Jeff Wallace and wife, Emily, Brian Smith and wife, Rachel, Rebecca Smith; 17 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; plus an entire community that referred to him as Uncle Wayne.
Honorary pallbearers are Ben Faglie, Bill Faglie, Andy Faglie, Jerry Don Faglie, James Faglie and Wendell Vick.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the church he always loved, Little Hope Baptist Church.
Visitation will begin 1 hour prior to service.
