

Minnie Jo Burns was born June 25, 1934 to Essie Pearl and Travis Elmer Tutle in Jackson, Texas. She attended Jackson school until it consolidated with Canton schools and graduated from Canton High School in 1952. She married the love of her life, Billy John Burns on December 29, 1951. They were inseparable from the time of their marriage until his death in 2010.
Mrs. Burns worked as secretary for the First Baptist Church in Canton for many years. She also worked with youth, taught Girls Auxiliary, girls Sunday school, sang in the choir, and was active in WMU. Her church and church family were very important to her and she quietly gave her time and support to them and many others over the years.
She later worked for Burns Brothers Hardware. She worked there until her retirement.
Mrs. Burns was devoted to her family, their care and needs. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Christmas was always a special time in her home and she spent weeks making Christmas candies, cookies, cakes and other Christmas treats which she shared with many friends and family. She also enjoyed sewing, doing crafts, and was an artist. She and Billy John traveled all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico. They enjoyed RV travel and took many trips with friends and family, including grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her husband, Billy John Burns, her parents Essie Pearl Keese and Travis Elmer Tutle, her brothers N. W. Tutle, Carrol Eugene Tutle, and Jerry Mac Tutle.
She is survived by her brother, Loyal Devon Tutle, her children, Angela Jo Jobe (Wayne), Billy John Burns Jr. (Donna), Chris Allen Burns (Toni), her grandchildren, Magee Robert Ellis Johnson Burns (Karen), Jackie Marie Melton (Brad), Joshua Adam Campbell, Abbey Lee Rogers, Ashley Lynn Burns, Amanda Jo Srur (Fabiano), great grandchildren, Kendra Leann Beasley (Dillon), Kelsey Lynn James, Blake Ellis Burns, Heaven Loraine Campbell, Joshua Adam Campbell, Jr., Montrell Allen Rogers, Asia Lynn Rogers, and Sabrina Joclyn Srur, great great grandchildren, Oakley Keith James, Braydon James Mitchell, brother in law Jerry Franklin Burns (Sue), sister in law, Melba Jean Upshaw (Winston) and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
