John Franklin Higginbotham, 74, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2020 in Longview, Texas. He was born on April 29, 1946 in Canton, Texas to Everett Dewitt Higginbotham and Willie Mae Salters Higginbotham.
John was born and raised in Canton, Texas. He was a graduate of Canton High School and furthered his education in HVAC and EMT training. John ran his own HVAC business and worked as an EMT for the Canton area for many years. John was a long time member of the International Order of Odd Fellows and was recently given the title of Grand Warden at his local lodge. John became an avid Catholic several years ago. If John was not working with the Odd Fellows or the Saint Theresa Catholic Church, you could either find him fishing on the lake while drinking several cups of coffee, or watching John Wayne movies, his favorites. John always had a story or joke to tell at any given time. He was a devoted friend to all that knew him. Most important to John was his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and brother-in-law. He leaves a vacant spot in the hearts of all that loved and knew him.
John is preceded in death by his parents Everett and Willie Higginbotham, and by his brothers-in-law Gayther Heddins, David Ashmore, and Charles Willis.
John is survived by his wife Kathryn Higginbotham; sons Ed Higginbotham and Craig (Bobbie) Higginbotham; stepdaughter Laura Akers; grandchildren Drew, Alex and Amelia; and sisters Mary Heddins, Alma (Jerry) Cornwell, Peggy Ashmore, and Ruth Willis.
Inurnment will be at the Haven of Memories Cemetery in Canton, Texas.
