Private services for Jessie Mae Locke, 97, of Emory, will be held Monday, May 11, 2020, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Danny Meek and Bud Allred officiating. A graveside service will be held at Chalk Mountain Cemetery near Glen Rose, TX.
Mrs. Locke passed away May 7, 2020 at her home. She was born April 27, 1923 in the Chalk Mountain Community in Erath County to William James and Lola Warren McCleery.
Mrs. Locke grew up in the Chalk Mountain Community. She married Foy Locke on October 10, 1940. They made their home in Grand Prairie for almost 60 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Jessie retired from Deluxe Check Printers after 31 years of service. After moving to Emory, she became an active member of Lake Fork Baptist Church. Jessie was known for being a prayer warrior and served as the head greeter at the church. She loved greeting people as they came into the church and sending handwritten letters to visitors. She even wrote letters to prisoners. Mrs. Locke loved to mail cards to friends and family. On her 97th birthday, she received over 90 birthday cards. She enjoyed cooking and baking pies. Jessie loved her Lord and Savior and was a blessing to everyone who met her.
Mrs. Locke is preceded in death by her parents, William and Lola McCleery; husband, Foy J. Locke; son, William J. Locke; two brothers: Atlee and Bill McCleery; one sister, Lee Rutter; great-grandson, Michael Jessup, Jr.; and two sons-in-law: Alex McCoy and Michael "Shorty" Wycough.
Jessie is survived by her two daughters: Mary L. McCoy of Grand Prairie and Debra Locke Wycough of Emory; sister, Pat McCleery Little of Hico; five grandchildren: Alicia McCoy Burchard and husband, Robert, Dina McCoy, Kandra Murphy, T.J. Holt and wife, Melody, Taylae Scott and husband, Austin; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Austin Scott, Hunter Durham, Shane Cobb, Jason Whitlock, Jeremy Whitlock, Robert Burchard and Timothiah Holt.
Family will receive friends 2-4 pm Saturday, May 9th, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
