He was born October 28, 1928 in Sherman, TX to Ralph and Ellen Blackmon.
James grew up in Sherman and attended Austin College where he received his Bachelor's Degree. In the early 1950's, James moved to Irving, TX where he resided until 1981 when he moved to his farm in Edom. James was a country music fan who enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and playing tennis in his younger years. He had a deep love for his family and working on his farm. James was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Edom.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Ralph & Ellen Blackmon; Wife, Wanda Blackmon; 3 Brothers, Paul, Martin, and Ralph Blackmon Jr.
James is survived by his Son, Keith & Joni Blackmon of Heath, TX; Son, Craig & Jan Blackmon of Dallas, TX; 5 Grandchildren, Kyle Blackmon, Rachel Blackmon, Karli Blackmon, L. Bryce Blackmon, Hayley & Ron Grafflin; Great Grandchildren, Jackson & Marley Grafflin; and Nephew, Ed Blackmon.
