Services for Fairrie F. Cox, 86, of Canton, will be held 10 am Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton with Bro. Glen Goodson and Bro. Craig Locke officiating. Interment will be in Starr Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Fairrie passed away on August 29, 2024 in Canton. She was born October 13, 1937 in Canton to Raymond Benjamin and Rachel Lorine Bailey Fincher.
Fairrie was a member of Willow Springs Baptist Church since 1961. She taught Sunday School, worked VBS, and was the Church clerk for over 30 years. She had a great passion for helping people, for working in her church and she volunteered at Canton Oaks Nursing Home painting finger nails and distributing bananas and smiles to all the residents. Fairrie worked for Canton ISD for 20 years as the Junior High Secretary. Later she and Larry owned and operated House of Crafts in Canton. Fairrie started her own business baking wedding, birthday and shower cakes for all of Van Zandt County. Her hobbies included growing beautiful flower gardens, raising finches and attending events of grandchildren.
During Fairrie's battle with Alzheimer's she was able to still touch a lot of lives with her smile and she never lost the twinkle in her eyes.
Mrs. Cox is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Cox; daughter, Debra Cox; great-grandson, Kaleb Wheeler; parents, Raymond Fincher and Rachel Fincher Hughes; two sisters: Eloise Cormier and Daphine Clemments; and a brother, Truman Fincher.
Fairrie is survived by her son, Wayne and Kim Cox of Martins Mill; daughter, Vicki and Glen Goodson of Canton; daughter, Tammy and Chuck Roy of Canton; nine grandchildren: Adam and Amanda Goodson, Craig and Adrianne Goodson, Blake and Kathy Goodson, Jake and Abigail Cox, Lauren and Andrew Wacaser, Hunter and Hailey Cox, Jared Cox, Sara and Chris Wheeler, and Callie and Chris Meyer; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and sister, Ima Todora.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Adam Goodson, Blake Goodson, Craig Goodson, Jake Cox, Hunter Cox, Jared Cox, Lauren Wacaser, Sara Wheeler and Callie Meyer. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Barber, Randy Jones and Mitch Goodson.
