Dwain Walters Martin

Dwain passed away June 22, 2017 in Tyler, TX after a short illness.

He was born November 20, 1934 in Edgewood, TX to Nomie Wallace Martin and Bonnie LaFaye Walters.

Dwain grew up in Edgewood and joined the Army where he served during the Korean Conflict. After serving his country, Dwain moved to Mesquite, TX and married Tyrece Swann. After raising their children, the two moved to Winnsboro for several years where Dwain opened his first BBQ restaurant. Dwain and Tyrece had homes in both Winnsboro and Edgewood. After 41 years of marriage, Tyrece passed away in 1998. Dwain enjoyed mowing, building, and gardening in his spare time. He married Wanda Joyce Dickerson in 2000 and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Edgewood.

He is survived by his Wife, Wanda Joyce Martin; Daughter, Rhonda Martin Cook; Daughter, Renee’ Elizabeth Martin; Stepdaughter, Joyce Wanell Hogue; Stepson, Ricky McCary; Stepdaughter, Glenita Blackwood; Stepson, Paul McCary; Grandchildren: Laci Oettmeier, Jessica Williams, Laura Fangman, & Andrew Cook; Several Step Grandchildren; and Sister, Sharon Martin Kinard.

Dwain is preceded in death by his Parents, Nomie & Bonnie Martin; and Wife, Tyrece Swann Martin.

Interment will be at Haven of Memories in Canton, TX.

Family will receive friends Sunday June 25, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
