Services for David J. Herring, 92, of Canton, TX are scheduled for 10 am Wednesday, November 5, 2014, at Eubank Funeral Chapel with Bro. Bill Parr officiating, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
Burial will be in Haven of Memories, Canton, TX.
He passed away November 2, 2014 in Canton.
Mr. Herring was born January 4, 1922 in Kenefick, Oklahoma to David Lee and Buena Vista Sims Herring.
David grew up in Pistol Hill outside of Kilgore, TX. During World War II he was a B-17 Pilot and flew 51 combat missions over Germany. David served 23 years in the US Air Force and then worked for Braniff Airlines in sales and marketing until his retirement. He lived in Mesquite for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mesquite and the Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Dallas. David moved to Canton in 1996 and was a member of the Little Hope Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons: Carter David Herring of Worcester, MA and Corky Herring and wife, Charlotte, of Canton, TX; 2 Granddaughters and their husbands: Lacey and Ryan Zwick and Tori and Aaron Zwick; 3 Great-Grandsons: Peyton, Nathan and Hagen Zwick; Sister, Josephine McDill of Virginia and Brother C. G. Herring of Sugar Land, TX.
Mr. Herring was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Herring.
Family will receive friends Tuesday 6 -8 pm at the funeral home.
