Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert, her parents Simon and Olga Johnson, and her siblings George Johnson, Irene Eklund, Roy Johnson, Everett Johnson, Margaret Douglass and their spouses. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a 1946 graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, IL. She led the youth choir at Back to the Bible Broadcast in Lincoln, Nebraska for many years. She later owned a fabric store with her husband. Ruth and Delbert moved to Deltona, FL; and after Delbert passed away, Ruth moved to OH to be closer to family.
Ruth was a prolific, passionate writer. She wrote over 70 devotional books, including the popular Joy Spartan series. She penned many more Christian articles and features. Ruth was a member of the Canton Baptist Temple where, until recently, she wrote a weekly devotional for the Ambassador Class. For the past three years she wrote 40 inspirational poems each Christmas. Canton Baptist Temple distributed the booklets to shut-ins and Ruth sent copies to family. She continued to write until her death.
Ruth loved watching both college and professional sports, especially football and baseball. She loved the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Ruth also played the trumpet.
Ruth will be buried in FL next to her beloved husband, Delbert. A private family service will be held there.
