Richard J. “Dick” Reicosky, age 84 of Canton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at the home of his daughter, Penny S. Laubacher and son-in-law, Daniel F. Laubacher, Sr. following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Jackson Township on September 27, 1926 to the late Fredrick J. and Anna H. (Martin) Reicosky. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He was a Navy veteran of WWII who served in the South Pacific Theater. Retired from Schneider Lumber Co. in 1996 after 58 years of service. He also served as a Jackson Township Volunteer Fireman for 16 years.
Preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Thelma (Sweany) in 2000; daughter, Helen Lemasters; brother, Robert F. Reicosky. Survivors include his daughter, Penny S. Laubacher; son-in-law, Daniel F. Laubacher, Sr.; three grandchildren, Bruce M. Schoen and wife, Cyndi of College Station, TX, Daniel F. Laubacher, Jr. of San Diego, CA, and Jeremy J. Laubacher of Canton, OH; one great grandchild, Ande Schoen of College Station, TX; one sister, Mary Sharp of Canton.
He enjoyed his family, woodworking and traveling to South Dakota.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Donald King officiating. Interment in North Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home (formerly Karlo-Feucht). In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Aultman Hospice, 2821 Woodlawn Avenue Northwest, Canton, OH 44708-1423 in Richard’s name.
