Margaret Jane Merrick

Margaret was born April 26, 1927 in Canton, Ohio to the late Carl A. and Hazel (Meyer) Hoover.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and an outstanding cook and seamstress. Margaret transported children with special needs to the Canton City Schools for many years. She was a member of Perry Christian Church where she served as a former deaconess and volunteer receptionist. She was a past member of the Perry Women's Club. Margaret loved spending time with her family, traveling, and cooking. She will be remembered for her terrific sense of humor and kindness.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Marion Merrick in 2017; four brothers; three sisters; and an infant granddaughter. She is survived by her children, Marjorie Merrick, Dr. Lyndin (Brenda) Merrick, and Marilyn "Polly" (John) Worstell; grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Worstell, Lisa Hills, Ryan (Charley) Merrick, and Tyler Merrick; five great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Maruca; and brothers, Harold (Marge) Hoover, and Mark (Pat) Hoover.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Friday in the Karlo-Libby Funeral Home with Pastor Rod Geiger officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 11:30am-1:00pm on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Perry Christian Church, 139 Perry Dr. NW, Canton, Ohio 44708. We extend gratitude and heartfelt thanks to the staff of Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital who took such great care of our mother.
