Jack was born December 17,1931 in Canton, Ohio to the late Jack L. and Mabel (Rodgers) Benson. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a jet and automobile mechanic. He retired from Republic/LTV Steel after a career of 44 years.
Jack was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Maximo, Ohio. He enjoyed vacationing in Florida during the winters of his retirement years, then home in Ohio setting up and selling a variety of his wife Cindy’s hand sewn goods on weekends at Hartville Flea Market; also spending time with family and friends.
Jack is survived by his wife, Cynthia I. (Fewell) of 30 years, his sons, Eric (Amy) Benson, and David” Butch” Eversole, his faithful four-legged companion, Missy, and a stepdaughter. Two sisters, Ann Fernandez and Jackie Underwood, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Claire (Fernandez), a brother, James Benson, two sisters, Regina Beard and Mary DePuy.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Friday, January 21, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maximo, Ohio with Rev. Fr. G. David Weikart. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park, Canton, Ohio with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jack’s name to St. Joseph Catholic Church, P.O. Box 219, Maximo, Ohio 44650.
