Son of the late Ida A. (Gurevich) and Charles D. Shatz. Loving husband of Diane L. (Gammerman) Shatz of 53 years. Beloved father of Jennifer Fritz and her husband, Matt Fritz, of Easton and Jamie Menn and her husband, Rob Menn, of Needham. Cherished Pops of Ben and Emme Fritz and Lola and Milo Menn.
Steve was born in Brookline on July 6, 1947. He grew up in Mattapan where he met his wife, Diane. They were married in 1970 and moved to Stoughton where they raised their daughters, Jennifer and Jamie. For most of Steve’s career he was a shoe buyer for J Baker. He then proceeded to own a toy store in Coolidge Corner and later was a logistics coordinator for K Powers.
Steve was an avid reader and loved to do crossword puzzles. He was a lover of all music, especially Frank Sinatra, Elvis and the Rolling Stones. Steve liked to build model planes and had a great appreciation for sports cars. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting games and dance recitals as well as cooking Sunday dinners for his family. He was a lover of animals, especially his cats, who he adored. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 2 PM at Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, Canton. Burial will follow at Sharon Memorial Park, 40 Dedham Street, Sharon. Shiva will be held at the Shatz residence following the burial from 4:00-8:00 PM.
