Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Shirley spent many years in Fair Lawn, NJ, where she was a very active volunteer at Temple Beth Shalom. She moved to Massachusetts after the passing of her beloved husband of 52 years, Frank, to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.
Shirley loved playing poker, rummikub, and bingo to win at Brightview Canton where she most recently lived. She was an avid fan of “Dancing with the Stars”, enjoying guessing the dancers' scores and she was often spot on. Shirley was a game show fanatic. Every evening you could find her watching her favorites “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy”.
Most of all, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren Alexandra & Jacob, and her many nieces & nephews.
In addition to her husband, Shirley was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Herman Turner(Beverly Turner). She is survived by her sister, Frances Karten (Dr. Irving Karten), daughter, Gerri Slater (Alan Slater) of Norwood, and both her grandchildren. She also leaves behind her nieces and nephews including greats & great great and many close friends.
Shirley’s family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of Brightview, Bayada, Cornerstone, Beth Israel Deaconess Milton, and Old Colony Hospice for making Shirley’s final years fulfilling and comfortable.
