Harvey Steven Horwitz of East Falmouth, entered into rest November 24, 2016. He was 76. Beloved husband of Martha “Marti” (Shaw). Devoted father of Denise Tobin and her husband Tim. Cherished grandfather of Benjamin, who was the apple of his eye. Loving brother of Ann-Beth (Horwitz) Ostroff, and uncle of Myles Ostroff and his wife Meaghan, and their children Ella and Leo, and Jana Backus and her children, Mason Backus, and Cameron Backus, his wife Tierney and their son Erikson. Prior to his retirement, he was a Superintendent of Schools in Vermont and Western MA. In his youth, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping. He also loved to square dance. He was a member of the Sparks Club in Boston; the Coast Guard Auxiliary, and was honorably discharged from the Coast Guard due to family hardship. He was a member of the R.O.M.E.O. coffee group. He was also an avid reader, and enjoyed the Opera. He will be missed by his family and many lifelong friends. A graveside service will be held SUNDAY, November 27th at 10:30am at The Falmouth Jewish Cemetery, 7 Hatchville Road, East Falmouth. Memorial observance will be held at his late residence Sunday following interment, Monday from 2-8pm, and Tuesday from 2-8pm.
