Daughter of the late Hyman Berenson, Sarah "Sally" and Gabriel Cohen. Beloved wife of the late Robert Cooper. Loving mother of Howard and Sharon Cooper of Randolph, and Frank Silvia, Sharon’s fiancé, an essential part of our family. Beloved sister of Leonard Colten of Hull, the late Morton Berenson, Stanley Colten, and Bernice Etcoff. Survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.
Bebe met and married Bob, the love of her life, on January 15, 1955. No one would have ever guessed they met on a blind date.
Bebe graduated from Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls and then went to work for Mass Bonding and Insurance where she met Ann (Frankenberger) Fardon. Their families remained close friends for over 60 years. She cherished all her childhood friendships, with whom she always kept in touch.
Her Florida connection began in the late 60’s in Mattapan when she met our new neighbors. Our families made friends for life with Laura, Mike, Sheila, and Donna Hyman. Years later, their family relocated to Florida. Sheila and Bebe then collaborated on a fashion highway along the east coast that culminated in Bebe’s well known fashionista style and her love for chic, beautiful clothes. Her motto was “I’d rather be looked over than overlooked”.
Her coveted signature calling card was Phillips Candy House and Montilios Bakery. So, whenever there was a special event, you could guarantee Bebe to bring you the absolute best.
Born with Dystonia but never diagnosed until years later, she was able to overcome any obstacle in her way with dignity and grace. Bebe was always there to give a helping hand, or advice when asked. She made sure that no one was left alone, especially during the holidays. She truly was a wonderful, kind, gentle person as well as a warm loving compassionate and strong woman. She leaves a legacy of love behind in her children and those whose lives she touched.
Due to Covid restrictions, private services were held at Stanetsky Memorial Chapels on Friday, April 9th.
Burial at the Pride of Boston, Woburn and memorial observance will be private.
