Joan was born on June 8, 1946 in Campbellton to the late Roy Kelly and the late Isabel Hamilton.
Joan graduated from Teacher’s College in Fredericton, 1966 and was an elementary school teacher for 33 years until her retirement from the Lord Beaverbrook School in 1999. She is survived by her son Derek (Tara), daughter Karyn, sister Judy (Brian), sister-in-law Della (Wade), grandsons Carter, Kayson and Cruz, nephews, nieces and extended family. Joan loved her time spent with others, whether it was in the teacher’s staff room after school, visiting family and friends or just catering to her children. She never missed an opportunity to chat and catch up on someone else’s life. Joan never missed a day of school, partly because of her commitment to her work and her students, but also because she was the bus driver for Karyn and Derek who attended school in Campbellton for their entire school life but never once road a bus. She loved reading, knitting, bowling and of course her favorite hockey team, the Boston Bruins. When she was able, she enjoyed going for extended, long and fast paced walks around the city. She loved attending church services and functions, and singing in the choir.
She is survived by her son Derek (Tara), daughter Karyn, sister Judy (Brian), sister-in-law Della (Wade), grandsons Carter, Kayson and Cruz, nephews, nieces and extended family. She was predeceased by her brother, Tom Kelly.
