Dorothy Winnerfred Yule (Bogstie), passed away peacefully on Thursday February 22, 2024, at the age of 100. She was born on February 10, 1924 in Gleichen AB, lived in Calgary and spent her final years in Campbell River BC.
She is predeceased by her husband Vernon (Tom) Yule, daughter Susan, daughter-in-law Brenda, six siblings (spouses) and of course Chrissy-baby her beloved schnauzer. Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her son Darcy, four grandchildren Andrew (Terra), Kamala (Chris), Kelly (Don) and Gillian (Eckley) and nine great-grandchildren Ethan, Jaxon, Roman, Hunter, Zander, Thomas, Gideon, Seth and Freya.
Dorothy loved her family, she dedicated her life to being a homemaker and a rock for her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
Grandma loved to do many things and did them all superbly- gardening, baking, doll making and needle work. She also loved to travel by road and air, as close as Southern Alberta and as far flung as New Zealand. Dorothy and Tom shared a love of rock and lapidary. They spent many happy summers with Susan, Darcy and life-long friends (fellow “rock hounds”) climbing through coulees in search of treasures.
She wasn’t one to say I love you, but showed it with care, kindness, patience, thoughtfulness, home cooked meals, and generosity. With her every touch, look and act of help she showed her deep, genuine love.
Our deepest thanks to the caring staff at Evergreen Seniors Home for their kindness and affection for Dorothy.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Campbell River Hospice Society or a charity of your choice. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held in Calgary at a later time.
