Lt. Col. William G. Henne (Bill), 91, of Camp Hill died on Friday, February 24, 2023. Bill was born on March 4, 1931, to William George Henne and Edith A. (Valentine) Henne. Bill was a graduate of Atlantic City High School (1949); The Citadel in Charleston, SC (1953), where he was commissioned as 2nd Lt.; and Shippensburg University (MBA, 1977). He was the loving husband of “Kitty” Kathleen (Wolfe) for 67 years (until her death in 2020). Bill was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He retired as Deputy from the Logistics Evaluation Agency at New Cumberland Army Depot and also retired as Commander 378th Supply & Service Battalion at Fort Indiantown Gap. Bill was involved in numerous interests: took up a Photography venture at 13, helped his parents at Tuty Lodge Health Resort in Atlantic City, past president of the West Shore Toastmasters Club, past president of Chapter 1465 NARFE, life member of Reserve Officers Association, Judge of Elections for Camp Hill, member of MOAA, American Legion Post 43 Camp Hill, the Masons/Shriners, and leadership with Boy Scout Troop 51 of Camp Hill.
Surviving are his three daughters, Kathleen (Ed) Andrews of New Port Richey, FL; Charline Henne of Mechanicsburg; and M. Jane (Michael) Fuller of Lemoyne; two sons, William R. (Ricki Conner) Henne of Chelsea, AL; and John (Joy Leathers) Henne of Denver, PA; eight grandchildren: Rusty (Sherry) Henne, Jessica (George) Slade, and Jonathan Henne; Jessica (Doug) Wood, Tom Fuller, and Tyler (Em Suda) Fuller; Elise and Josiah Henne; several great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law Wescoat Wolfe of Anacortes, WA; one sister-in-law Bettye Yates Wolfe; two nieces Jennifer Wolfe-Paddock and Elizabeth Yates Wolfe; and so many good friends.
Bill was a gentleman, a strong and loving provider, as well as witty and sharp up until the end. He delighted in his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and friends, never passed up an opportunity to get together, and loved to hear the laughter of his children and grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00am on Tuesday March 7, 2023 in Neill Funeral Home; 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill, PA 17011. A funeral service will begin at 11:00am. Burial will follow at 1:30pm out in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery; Annville, PA 17003.
