Margaret B. Phillips of Mechanicsburg passed to her eternal reward on February 6, at the age of 96. Born in Sligo, Pennsylvania, on May 27, 1915, she was the daughter of the late William and Emma Pollack Myers. She was the loving wife of the late Donald G. Phillips for 57 years before his passing in 1997. They resided in New Bethlehem before moving to Mechanicsburg to live with their daughter and family.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Shaffer and her husband Bill of Mechanicsburg, four grandchildren, Laura Ingelido of Levittown, PA, Matthew Shaffer and Sharon Crane of Mechanicsburg and April Sibbach and husband Jason of Palmyra and four great grandchildren, Mark Ingelido, Lydia and Liam Crane and Emma Sibbach.
A daughter, Carole Phillips Magnelli of Harrisburg, preceded her in death in 2009.
Margaret was a member of the Silver Springs Presbyterian Church, Mechanicsburg and the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the New Bethlehem Chapter Order of The Eastern Star. Margaret was a church organist for eleven years at the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church and enjoyed crocheting, reading, her flower garden and most of all spending time with her family. Margaret always made family celebrations memorable with her special touches and great cooking.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held February 9, 2012 at 7PM at the Neill Funeral Home 3401 Market Street, Camp Hill with a viewing from 5-7PM. A viewing will also be held at the Rupert Funeral Home, 301 Penn Street, New Bethlehem on February 10, 2012 from 6-8PM with a Celebration of Life Service being held February 11, 2012 at the New Bethlehem Presbyterian Church at 11AM with viewing from 10-11 AM at the church. Burial will be in the Squirrel Hill Cemetery, New Bethlehem.
Memorials may be made to Gideons International or Cumberland Perry Association of Retarded Citizens.
