Ruby Murray (nee Kimpel) was a passionate music-lover, a dedicated gardener, a ferocious card-player, and to her family and friends, a true force of nature. She died in her 96th year on October 20th, 2019, surrounded by love at her apartment at Fairview Mennonite Home.
Ruby truly was a gem. She was a friendly face for more than three decades at Canada Trust in Cambridge. She struggled with the tragedy of losing her loving husband and soulmate, Bob, at a much too early age but bounced back and with great gusto tackled travel adventures, volunteer commitments and new challenges right into her 90’s, touching everyone she met. Ruby adored her parents, the late Mary and Albert Kimpel, was a brilliant mother to her two children, Michael (Ann) and Susan, and cherished by her three grandchildren, Lori (Terry), Brad (Nicky) and Dean (Carly). Known as GG, she especially took delight in in the antics of her four rambunctious great-granddaughters, Norah, Ella, Hailey and Madison. The family would like to offer thanks to the support and friendship of neighbours Charlie and Judy Cross and special hugs to Mechtilde and Albert Dusek and of course Henry. The dedicated and loving staff at Fairview were truly fantastic at helping Mom in her final days and we would also like to thank the calm and caring nurses from Paramed as well as Dr. Rachael Halligan. We would now like to think Ruby has taken her rightful place in heaven where she is playing Hawaiian guitar and belting out old classics with Dad. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm with prayers to be said at 4:30 pm at Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Road, Cambridge). Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 24th at 11:00 am at St. Clements RC Church (745 Duke Street, Cambridge). Interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated, or plant a tree in Ruby’s memory.
