At the age of 89 Marie Eileen Clendenen Yates passed away peacefully, on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Stirling Heights Long Term Care Centre in Cambridge, Ontario. Predeceased by her loving husband Paul, and two sisters dear, Dorothy Hughes and Phyllis Saunders, she will be dearly missed by her four children, David, John, Elizabeth and Mary Jane along with their families.
She lived a long, full and remarkable life, serving as teacher, nurse, and nursing superintendent in Canada, the Congo, Haiti and Nigeria, over the span of many years. Inspired by her deep Christian faith, her professional life of service was surpassed only by her life as spouse, mother, grandmother, friend -- and mentor to many.
The family expresses deep appreciation to the staff of both Fairview Mennonite Home and Stirling Heights in Cambridge who provided outstanding care.
In honor of Marie's life, there will be a visitation on Monday at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. at the T. Little Funeral Home in Cambridge, Ontario, with reception there to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or World Team.
