McKinnon, Mary Kathleen (Law): We are heartbroken that our beloved Kathy/ Mom/ Nana has passed away, peacefully and surrounded by the family that loves her, on February 12, 2017. She leaves to mourn her adoring husband Don, sons Scott (Melissa), Michael (Judy), and Christopher, and daughter Kate Innanen (Karl). Her eight grandchildren were the light of her life: Miranda Hargraves, Lola and Finn McKinnon, Zoë, Michael and Jack Innanen, Drew and Owen McKinnon. Survived by brother Thomas (Susan), and predeceased by parents John and Mary Ellen Law. Kathy was an inspiration to all who knew her for her love of art, architecture and literature. She continued to pursue university degrees and honours while raising her family, and spearheaded the popular Cambridge Third Age Learning lecture series to share her love of continued education with others. She was a frequent traveller, and was quick to share her worn and weathered travel books with her children. She was an active and valued volunteer in the community, particularly with the Cambridge Idea Exchange, and enjoyed her monthly book club both for the literature and friendship. Kathy embarked on many adventures, and was always a source of love, compassion and insight for her family and friends. Her sharp wit was always welcome, and has been passed on to her children. We thank Cambridge Memorial Hospital for its care and kindness in the past few months, and for the warm, compassionate and caring people at Innisfree House over the past week. Visitation will take place at Coutts Funeral Home (96 St. Andrews St. Cambridge) on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 1 - 2 p.m. with the Funeral Service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Innisfree House would be appreciated by the family.
