We will remember him as a smart and respectful man who worked hard for his family. When Jose came to Canada from the Azores in 1966, he worked in Thompson, Manitoba. He went back home in 1969 to be reunited with his family and then went to Montreal, Quebec for 3 years before finally settling in Cambridge. His passion was music. Jose loved to play the accordion, clarinet, and tuba, among other instruments. Jose will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his children Lurdes From (John), Tina Amaral, Tony Tavares, Fatima Lednicky, Frank Tavares (Marlene), and John Tavares (Tanya), 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and many more extended family members and friends. He is now reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Maria Espirito Santo Tavares, his son Joe Tavares, his daughter Lucy Cordeiro, and his son-in-law Ronnie MacDougal. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation on Wednesday, July 31st from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, with prayers to be said at 8:30 pm, at T. Little Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ambrose Church (210 South Street, Cambridge) on Thursday, August 1st at 11:00 am. Interment at Parklawn Cemetery. A reception will follow at T.
