Most kind and sweetest lady. Giovanna touched so many lives with her gentleness and soft words. My condolence to the entire family she will be sadly missed by everyone but the memories will be with you forever. Giovanna, such an amazing lady may you rest in peace.

On the day before Giovanna's wedding, I spent the afternoon sitting on her parent's veranda with Giovanna and Ugo.  It was a pleasant afternoon; they were waiting until it was time to go for the wedding rehearsal. They were so much in love.  Of course, I had to sit with them because they weren't yet married, so we sat and chatted.
I was twelve at the time and I was very impressed by their kindness to each other and their kindness to me.  Giovanna's sweet disposition left an impression on me that has lasted a lifetime.
By the photos, and other remarks, it appears that she never changed.  
Now she is at peace.  God bless her and give her eternal peace.

Zia Giovanna, more lovingly referred to as Aunt Jo,

I loved sharing a name with you.  When I was little, I was referred to as Giovanna piccola and you Giovanna grande.  When I grew up, I towered over you so the tables were turned, lol.  I loved coming over to your homes on Westmoreland in Toronto, in Agincourt and then Oakville. I rejoiced in your warmth, companionship, love and hospitality; always ready with a cup of coffee or tea, something to nibble on or simply a chat.  You were a pivotal force in our lives as we grew.  Thank you for all the memories.  You will be missed, but never forgotten.

I only have good memories full of love, laughter and so much generosity. My grandparents always lived within walking distance away from Zio Ugo and Zia Giovanna so I’d get the opportunity to visit my family often. I grew up playing in the basement with a full knight costume looming in the background, or pretending to cook in the cast iron fire pit that was their coffee table. It wasn’t all pretend, though, because our visits often meant cooking and baking together. As the years went on and families grew apart, I never stopped feeling the love and support of our aunt. 

Nonna Wanna, thank you for always making me feel loved, welcomed, and like one of your grandchildren while growing up. Your door was always open to me, even when I’d show up unannounced on my bike. If Nonna Zelia couldn’t find me she knew where I’d snuck out to…your house. I love you and will never forget the gift of your love in return. 

Zio Ugo, Lisa, Danny, Sabrina, Dustin and Aaron my heart goes out to all of you during this time. It’s the part of life that we dread but it’s the memories that get us through. May God give you all peace during this time and always.
