George was a very proud graduate in 1952 of the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto which was the beginning of his life-long career and passion. At the beginning of his career he was the owner and operator of Dickson Drugs from 1957-1970, and then proceeded to become a partner with the Patterson-Schaller Drugs from 1970-1987. Near the ending of his career he was a staff pharmacist at Meikleham Big-V Drug Store from 1987-1993.
George will fondly be remembered for his hobbies which included being an avid rail fan and member of the Canadian Railroad Historical Association, Kingston Division and Forest City Railway Society, London Ontario. George was also involved in his community in several ways, including being a Charter and Hon. Lifelong member of Msgr. P. J. Meyer Council #4916, Knights of Columbus. Many may recognize him from St. Clements Roman Catholic Church where he was the organist, and a member of the Resurrection Choir for over 60 years, and where he was a very devoted member of the St. Clements congregation.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Barthel Funeral Home and cremation had taken place. A Memorial Service will take place at St. Clements Roman Catholic Church, 745 Duke St, Cambridge, on Thursday December 7, 2023 beginning at 10 a.m.
In memory of George, donations to St. Clements Roman Catholic Church or to Cambridge Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
