Emilia Vargas Furtado

After a courageous battle with cancer at home, surrounded by her loving family, Emilia was reunited with her late husband Jose. Adored mother to Maria (Scott) Boyd and Joe (Myriam) Furtado. Avo to Emily, Jody, Ryan, Tyler, Jillian, Nicole and Rusty the dog. Beloved sister of Fatima Correia (Jose), Liduina Laranjo, Manuel Rosa (Lucia), Lina Furtado (Manuel), Beatriz Machado (Jose) and Henry Rosa (Maria). Also lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by daughter-in-law Nilda Furtado. Born in the Azores, Emilia came to Canada in 1967. She was a longtime employee of Cambridge Towel and an avid volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul Society. Emilia was loving, generous, upbeat, funny, energetic and full of life. She will be deeply missed. Friends are invited to call at T. LITTLE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE 223 Main Street, Cambridge on Friday November 21st, 2014 from 6-8pm. Rosary at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose RC Church, 210 South Street, Cambridge on Saturday November 22nd, 2014 at 11am. Donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society or Cambridge Memorial Hospital- Medical Daycare would be greatly appreciated. We wish to express our gratitude to Dr. Chouinard and Dr. Sims, their wonderful Medical Daycare staff and all those who were involved in Emilia’s care.
