Edna McCarty, a resident of Paris, Ontario, formerly of Ayr, Ontario, peacefully passed away at the age of 100 at Park Lane Terrace. Born to Alton and Annie Hawkins, Edna's journey began on a farm in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, where she, alongside her two sisters, was raised with love and resilience.
Edna faced life's joys and challenges with grace, embodying strength and compassion. She was predeceased by her first husband, Fred Harrison and second husband, Leo McCarty as well as her parents, Alton and Annie Hawkins, sister Doris Fitzpatrick, sons-in-law Terry Bishop, Dan Kent, and brothers-in-law Edward Fitzpatrick and Al Forsythe.
She is survived by her sister Phyllis Forsythe, daughter Doris Ann Snell (Ray), step-children Janis Bishop, Patricia Kent, and John McCarty (Bonnie), along with a legacy of 10 grandchildren: Tim Snell, Laura Johnston (Ken), Andrew Snell (Jen), Angela Bishop (Linford), Rebecca Farmer (Nathan), Scott Bishop, Dan Kent Jr. (Lindsay), Christine Rushton (Mike), John McCarty Jr. (Jen), and Mike McCarty. Edna also leaves behind 18 great-grandchildren, creating a beautiful tapestry of family.
Edna's warmth and love extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Her memory will be cherished as a testament to a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and enduring connections.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be held in the spring.
