Bonny Loretta Mae Bishop (nee Pettit), age 69, of Cambridge, ON passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born December 2, 1955, in St. Thomas, ON, a beloved daughter of Dorothy Pettit and the late Charles (Pete) Pettit.
She is survived by Richard Bishop, her loving husband of 49 years; son Brad Bishop and daughter-in-law Linda; daughter Kelly Bernstein and son-in-law Shannon; grandchildren, Cameron Bishop, Brendan Bishop and Hayden Bishop; sister Connie Pettit (late husband Bob Noviss); sister Jennifer Pettit and husband Greg Smith; nephew Mark Page and wife Christina; niece Janette Page and partner Ryan Burke, and many extended relatives and friends.
Bonny worked as a technician at Therm-O-Disc in St. Thomas, ON, Dahlberg Sciences/Miracle Ear in Kitchener, ON and later at COM DEV International in Cambridge, ON. In retirement, she took pride in her gardens and koi pond and enjoyed snuggling with her dog Bailey. A fearless breast cancer survivor, Bonny courageously battled pulmonary fibrosis until the end.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her healthcare professionals and specifically the ICU team at Cambridge Memorial Hospital who provided care, kindness, compassion, and comfort in her final days.
Cremation has taken place, and a private family interment will be held at South Park Cemetery in St. Thomas. A celebration of Bonny’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, 1-3pm at the Masonic Centre of Elgin, 42703 Fruit Ridge Line, St. Thomas, ON.
Bonny preferred living plants; in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and Galt Horticultural Society would be appreciated.
