I was shocked to hear of the passing of Tony Romano. First of all I pass my most heartfelt condolences to his family; rest assured that his loss was felt far and wide. I met Tony in the early months of DragonWave; that's when I discovered that we shared the same birthday, in addition to my daughter's (April 2). Tony was exactly 4 years younger than I and also shared the same master's thesis supervisor at U of T 4 years later than me.
I always admired Tony for his genuine laughter and sincere character, and his professional excellence and experience as an accomplished engineer. He was a most sympathetic and dependable character, and dedicated family man. Plain-spoken yet awesomely knowledgeable, he was ready to share his experience with anybody at any level, always putting himself last in priorities and leaving one with a feeling of assurance that he genuinely shared one's experience. He was a model I aspire to emulate. May he rest in peace, and his family rest in assurance of my feeling of privilege of having known him.

Very Sad to hear Tony's passing.  Only got to know today.  Tony was my manager for sometime at Dragonwave and loved working with him.  Learned so much from him.  Some times he jokes around and make us feel good.  It is very hard feelings to accept that he is no longer.  

I am so saddened with the news that Tony is no longer with us. I worked with Tony and played soccer. It was an honor to have known such a great person. Tony  was a true inspiration to me.  My most sincere condolences.
  

I just heard about Tony's passing. I am so sorry to hear of this. I worked with Tony at DragonWave and enjoyed my time there with him. We shared may laughs together in those early days. My heart felt condolences to the family. 

I was deeply saddened to hear of Tony's passing.  Tony and I were friends, co-workers, and co-authors during the mid-90s at COM DEV.  Memories of his kindness, intelligence, and wry sense of humor make me smile to this day.  Tony was one of those people who made the world a little bit better for everyone around him. I am so sorry to hear of Tony's passing.  I worked with Tony at DragonWave during the exciting earlier years.  Tony was a great person, leader, family man and a mentor to me at work when I was a young engineer starting out.  I learned so much much from him.  I laugh when I hear myself talking about engineering at work often - I feel like I sound just like Tony (which I hope is true). 

And of course work can be your home away from home - so he talked often with us about his family which he loved very much.  We all felt like each others families were our second families.   Of course being in Ottawa we talked about his kids (playing hockey!!) and hockey (Ottawa Senators!!) more than anything.  I just looked at the photos - I can't believe how the little kids have grown into such grownups!  An in typical Italian way he loved his wife immensely and wasn't shy to say it.  They always seemed very happy together.

Tony started playing hockey at DragonWave - that was great fun too.  I am not sure if his family got a chance to see him - but he wasn't afraid of much - not even looking like Bambi on ice in order to partake in the game he loved.

Know that he was noticed and affected people's lives in a positive way.

Dear Romano Family,  I was a friend of Tony's, attending St. Roberts Catholic High School  together 1976-81.  Tony was a great guy with a big smile and always easy to get along with.  We had a few classes together but what I remember most was a few baseball trips we took with a number of our high school friends and a teacher as we travelled into the States to watch some games.  We piled into a cargo van, sat on lawn chairs and slept on Motel room floors, splitting cost as poor high school students.  Lots of fun and laughs!  Last time Tony and I spoke was when he moved his family from Montreal ( If memory serves) to Cambridge.  He looked me up and gave me a call. We had a good chat.  I am so sorry to hear of his passing, far too early in life.  |I am thinking of all of you and my friend.    Paul Kennedy and family.

Felicia, our hearts go out to you and your  family at this time of sudden and tragic loss.  Tony was very proud of all of you and talked about you often.  We have worked with Tony since the early days of COM DEV, and in recent years Tony and Van worked very closely together in the same group sharing many similar opinions and a similar sense of humour.  Since our recent retirement, Van looked forward to the occasional visit with Tony and the gang at Starbucks.  He was a very intelligent and kind man, and he will be dearly missed.

I looked up to Tony, and learned from him about life, tinkering, and compassion.  Always putting others first, he embodied all that is good and awesome about using your curiosity and smarts to make life more fun and fulfilling for everyone around you.  It is with a sad heart that I feel the loss of his wisdom and inspiration, and I will do my best to follow the lessons he taught me about always doing the right thing rather than blindly following rules. I'm so very saddened by this news, my deepest sympathy for your family.  I worked with Tony for over 25 years, he was a good and kind person.  We often shared stories of our children's hockey experiences and he would share advice and walked around work with a smile on his face. I can't believe he is gone. Antonio and I have been co-workers since 1990, and now part of the work family is missing.The void is difficult to express. My thoughts are with his family and children. Tony spoke of you often and his devotion to you was profound. He will be missed.

Very sad news indeed.  I had the good fortune of spending high school with Tony and we sat together many days in Math and science classes.  Tony was certainly one of the bright ones and we had many great conversations.  I used to enjoy when we had debates in some classes and Tony would take on a position that he could defend very well, articulately and intelligently.  Our paths did not cross after high school, which sometimes feels only like days ago - especially when we receive such news - reminders that "We are only dancing on this earth for a short while" ( Cat Stevens).  It sounds like Tony "danced" a lot and had a great life and family.  I will be praying for you.

So sad to hear of this.  I just started with Honeywell and happened to chat with him over a potluck lunch before Christmas and he was so friendly and simply lovely to talk with.  Clearly he made an impact on everyone he met!
