Alan was born July 22, 1937 in Watford, England but was raised in Wales. He served two years in the Royal Air Force and after college began teaching shop finishing as head of his department before his move into correctional services. This career brought his family to Canada where he ran various correctional facilities throughout Ontario until his retirement in 2002.
Alan was an avid footballer, woodworker, reader, traveler, and loved exploring the countryside in his Jaguar or Triumph Spitfire.
Predeceased by his parents Jim and Selina, siblings Maureen, Netta, Gwynn and Jennifer; his nephew Richard Clements and step-son Robert Williams.
Lovingly remembered by his wife Darleen Munro, children Jane MacIntosh (Neil) and Ian (Lori) and their mother Jan Elwell; stepdaughter Veronica Williams (Ted); grandchildren Kayleigh and McKayla; Naomi and his best friends John and Anne Duggan.
We wish to extend our deepest gratitude to the amazing Elm Trail staff for their care and compassion during this journey....we know how much you will all miss Alan’s smile.
In keeping with Alan’s wishes cremation has taken place and his family will be having a private service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alan’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society.
