Jerry was my friend.  I only knew him for the last few years, but I grew to like him a lot.  I only ever saw him at 5:30 a.m. at the Lutheran church in Corte Madera.

He was first to indicate I had something special to offer the group.
He told me what I had to say had meaning.  Having great respect for a man of his years, education and experience, his interest in me and my thoughts mattered.

His good humor and light will always be with me.  Knowing my life experience might offer any guidance to somebody 20 years my senior will also be part of me forevermore.

Losing someone who was so close to you for so long must be very difficult no matter how prepared or relieved or ready you were to handle the loss.

May God bless you and your family in your grief.  May we be blessed always having shared our lives with a man like yours.

I will miss the excitement felt when I noticed Jerry's Lincoln.  It was a sure sign one of my favorite guys would be waiting inside with a smile and a few wry, gravelly words for us.

I know he loved you so.  May we find peace, and relief from the sorrow.  My pain and tears are tender reminders of our dear Dr Jerry Roberts.

I will miss Dr Roberts. He was my my employer, my friend and my mrentor. Working for "Beatie, Branick and Roberts " was more than a job. It was belonging to a family.I will always treasure those memmories. Rest in peace

5:30AM On Awakening

Jerry and I were long and close friends. We are graduates of the U of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, and were DHS classmates in the Class of 1956. Jerry was our Sophomore class president, played basketball, and was in DHS choral groups. He had a major part in the Senior Class Play in 1956, served on the Student Council, and was co-Editor of the Maroon & White weekly DHS school newspaper with Rose Paras. He was an honor student. He served a rotating internship through all major medical specialties at the Illinois Central Hospital on 58th and Stony Island Avenue in Chicago, as did I. One of our favorite mentors was Chester Guy, MD, brother of Ruth Guy who served for many years as head of the Danville Public School District 118 music department. Dr. Guy was a superb surgeon and teacher. Jerry met and married Arlene Targansky while in his internship, and left for his USAF assignment in England. Arlene was a lovely young woman, and one of the finest nurses we ever had the pleasure of working with. She handled our patients with genuine love and concern, and was gracious and helpful to the physicians on the medical staff as well as the interns and residents. Jerry met Sir John Charnley, the pioneer orthopedic surgeon who developed the procedure for hip replacement, while in England and returned to study this and other procedures. He performed many hip and later knee replacement procedures in the San Francisco area as a practicing orthopedic surgeon. He is remembered fondly by many friends and classmates for his beautiful baritone voice, and was often asked to sing at weddings. He loved his wife and daughters, and brought great happiness to them and his many friends.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers and keeping Jerry's fond memories in our thoughts.

Jerry and the Roberts family have been my family's neighbors in Mill Valley, CA for more than 40 years. Better and more helpful neighbors you couldn't ask for. Jerry hired me to help remodel their home in the early ‘70s when I was just 18, and very patiently allowed me to work out the numerous mistakes that I frequently made. Thank you, Jerry. Your patience and willingness to overlook the little things have been an inspiration to me for the rest of my life. May you Rest in Peace
