Chester V. Plys, age 85, of Calumet City, at rest December 13, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 64 years to Bernice (nee Klank); loving father of Richard (Denise), Jeffrey and Jackie Lieberman; proud grandfather of Erica Plys, Frank Lieberman; Jennifer Plys, Jason Plys and Alyssa Plys; dear brother of Robert (Dotty) Plys, Victoria (late Frank) Koza and the late Albert and Donald Plys; fond brother-in-law of Rose (Chester) Surufka, Gertrude (late Jesse) Divine and Raymond Klank; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 19, 2011 at 10:15 a.m. from the Hennessy-Nowak Funeral Home 400 Pulaski Rd. (154th St.), Calumet City to St. Andrew the Apostle Church for Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Chester was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a retired employee of LTV Steel for 30 years, a lifetime member of the Calumet City American Legion Post #330 (service 7:00 p.m.), member of the Knights of Columbus Coronata Council #3806, and Cardinal Stritch Assembly (service 7:30 p.m.), past president of Dolton AARP #3560, member of the Our Lady of Knock Friendship Club (service 3:00 p.m.) and Calumet City Historical Society.
