Yvette Luetella was born on March 24, 1946, in her homeland of Antigua in the Caribbean. She became a Canadian citizen in July 1978. She attended and graduated from Innis College, University of Toronto. She worked as a secretary – supporting staff in the Psychology and Social Work department at Toronto District School Board. She met her wonderful husband Emmanuel at First Baptist Church. They got married on May 30, 1987, in Toronto, Ontario and have celebrated over 35 years of marriage. The family moved to Calgary, Alberta in July 2013.
With the support of her dear husband and strong belief in herself with hard work and faith, she obtained the degree Master of Christian Counselling at Canada Christian College. She was certified as a Lay Pastoral Counsellor with the Evangelical Order of Pastoral Counsellors of America. She volunteered serving and served faithfully in her local churches she was a part of. Evangelism was a huge part of her life. She loved sharing Jesus and His love with others. Yvette Luetella was a former member of the Board of Elders with Morris Cerullo World Evangelism and an active partner since 2006 with the ministry. She was also a part of the Helpline prayer team where she would pray for people over the phone.
Yvette Luetella was a giver – a generous soul. Some of the Christian ministries she faithfully supported are, World Impact Ministries (sharing the good news of the grace and love of Christ with unreached people around the world), Shining Light Ministries (sharing the Gospel by helping people in the Balkans), Love a Child (supporting the hungry children of Haiti) and as a member of Calgary Life Church when she first came to Calgary. She also gave of her love and kindness to others.
We have fond memories of when mom would intercede for her loved ones, pray for their salvation, and pray for those who were in need and for pressing issues around the world. She loved sharing Jesus with others and His love. Also, she had an incredible sense of humor. She has helped many.
Her extended family and friends loved the fond memories they share with her, and she loved them deeply. We remember her as a petite and pleasant woman who was very friendly and approachable.
She was a supportive wife and mother who always took good care of her family and others, and we did her, too.
Yvette Luetella enjoyed colouring, doing her nails, loved to drink herbal tea, and watching basketball and the Food Network – she loved to cook.
Yvette Luetella is survived by her husband Emmanuel and her daughter Abigail, as well as extended family. Yvette Luetella was deeply loved by many, and she will be dearly missed.
