Yung Oi Eng

Yung Oi, was born in Taishan, Guangdong province of China in 1927 and married Cheo Siu in 1947. Cheo Siu left China and took a circumvented route to Canada while Yung Oi was able to immigrate directly to Canada in the early 1960’s where they reunited and continued their married life together.

Yung Oi enjoyed cooking, and worked in professional kitchens for many years. She was always ready to lend a hand with her culinary skills for events at the Chinese associations she belonged to. Gardening was a favourite pastime and there was always a bountiful harvest in her expansive garden.

Yung Oi was a hardworking, independent and strong-willed lady who cared deeply for her family. Yung Oi is survived by her son Robin and his wife Karen. She was predeceased by her husband, Cheo Siu in 2001.

A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, December 2nd, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
