Walter passed away at home, July 10, 2011. He leaves to mourn his wife of 47 years, Linda, son Robb (Catherine) & grandsons Justin & Devin. Son Jeff (Kristin) & granddaughter Miranda. Daughter Joanne (Colin) Petryk & grandsons Kyler & Brady. He also leaves behind his mother, Evelyn Bell, siblings Darlene Brown, Frank (Lynda) Bell, Roy (Louise) Bell, Connie (Larry) Boyle & Don (Cindy) Bell and a vast extended family. He was predeceased by his brother Arthur (Dorraine) in 1984, brother in law Blake Brown in 2002 and his father, Merlin in 2008.
Walter was born September 18, 1942 in Colgate Saskatchewan. He joined the RCMP in 1964 and was posted in Chilliwack, BC. The family moved to Ottawa, Mississauga and finally Calgary, where he retired in 1991. In his spare time he enjoyed working on numerous renovation projects and took pleasure in helping others any way he could. He regarded the natural world with a child-like wonder that was infectious and remained with him to the end. He is sorely missed by all those he left behind.
A Memorial Service will be held at South Calgary Funeral Centre, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate) on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.
