Roy Elmer Shelley passed away peacefully at Peter Lougheed Centre on Sunday June 25, 2017 at the age of 84 years. He is lovingly remembered by his family and will be dearly missed by his three children, Janet, Douglas (Elise), and Barbara (Rod); as well as his ten grandchildren, Andrea (Brent), Ryan (Katie), Desiree, Danielle (Tim), Tasia, Katelyn, Athena (Brandon), Kristen, Kyle, and Zachary; and his two great grandchildren, Taylor and Hayden. Roy will also be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Joanne, his parents John and Ellen and his eight brothers and one sister. Born on July 9, 1932, Roy was a native Calgarian. He worked for 35 years for the Calgary Fire Department as Supervisor of Alarm Dispatch and was president of the IBEW Local 254. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being an active member of the Pensioners’ Association. A Celebration of Roy’s Life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4th Street N.W. (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
