Robert Joseph Dick

He is survived by his children Monica Dick; Joseph Dick (Rose); Debbie Emery (Art); Rob Dick (Cammy), and Shannon Murphy (Dave). Bob was a grandfather to his eight grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 12, including Jennifer Gregoire (Shane, with Jack); Tracy Dick (Jay, with Ellie Jo); Tyler Dick (Tegan, with Joshua, Haileigh, Jacklyn and Neelan); Susan Bishop (Aaron); Noelle Dow (Levi, with Mila and Ronin); Justin Emery; Chris Dick (Jess, with Kayden, Eric, Chloe and Nathan), and Victoria Dick (Matthew Taylor).

He is survived by two brothers in Didsbury, Alberta; Melvin Dick (Elaine) and their family; Calvin Dick and his family, and the children of his sister Doreen and their respective families. He is also survived by siblings of Mary Dick in Ontario.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Emma Dick, wife Mary Dick, his brother Vernon Dick, his sister Doreen Fenton and her husband Ken Fenton and by his sister-in-law Elaine Dick (nee Dean).

Bob was born in Didsbury, Alberta on June 3, 1932. He grew up living a farming lifestyle until enlisting as an airman in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was stationed at RCAF Foymount in Ontario for two years. It was during this time he met his wife Mary at a dance. They were married at St. Declan’s Church on October 8, 1955. They settled in Winnipeg, Manitoba where Bob worked in industrial sales for Ingersoll-Rand. The family moved to Calgary, Alberta in the 1960s. Bob used his “gift of the gab” while working for Chester Industrial Tool Supply and Gescan. He eventually retired and enjoyed spending his time taking long walks, grabbing a McDonald’s coffee, babysitting his “grand-dogs” and testing his luck at the casino. Bob enjoyed showing off his city to any guests, and relished traveling to various rodeos across Alberta for chuckwagon racing and pancake breakfasts.

The family would like to express its sincere appreciation to all of those involved in Bob’s care over the last year at Bethany Calgary especially Patricia and the rest of the angels on 3 East.

A Celebration of Life for Bob Dick will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Bob’s name came be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
