Reginald was born and grew up in the small fishing community of Pines Cove, Newfoundland, where he fished the Strait of Belle Isle with his father and uncles when he was 13. He married Velma Genge in 1964 and raised his son and two daughters in St. Anthony where he worked as a Power Lineman for Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro for 16 years. Reginald moved to Alberta in 1987 where he worked with the City of Calgary electrical department, now ENMAX, retiring in 2008. After retirement, he was torn between Calgary (close to family) and his original home in Pines Cove, NF, where he spent most of his summers.
He is survived by his son Keith (Corinna) Parrill, daughters Arlene (Bill) Byrne and Jacqueline (Rory) Wanvig; his grandchildren Gavin (Jenny), Ryan (Jessica), Matthew (Michelle), Candace Goedecke, Celine Parrill, Brandon Goedecke, and Ashleigh (Jeremy) Luyks; and his great-grandchildren Ayden, Oliver, Logan, Carter, Scarlett, Wyatt, Maverick, Weston, Chevy, and Walker.
He is also survived by his siblings Violet (Norman) Bull, Joyce Bown, Ada Whalen, Joe (Lelvie) Parrill, Ron (Wavey) Parrill, Wayne Parrill, Gorvin (Mary Jane) Parrill, and Elmer (Arlene) Parrill; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Reginald was predeceased by his father Allan, his mother Martha Jane, and his brother Ross.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 4 Street NW, Calgary, on Monday, August 22nd, 2022, at 10:00 AM.
