Piroska was born in Hungary, on May 18, 1937, to Janos and Borbala (Olah) Kiss. She immigrated to Canada in 1957 and settled in Calgary, AB. It was in Calgary where she met her husband Lajos Jakab. She helped nurse him back to health the night they met and Lajos immediately knew she was the one. They were married on August 3, 1967 and celebrated 51 loving years together. Piroska and Lajos bought a farm just outside of Calgary and spent many years out there raising their children. When they moved back to the city, Piroska worked as an upholsterer before retiring in 1990.
She had many hobbies and was always keeping busy, especially in her garden in the summer months. If you knew her, you knew how amazing her cooking was, she was her happiest when feeding everyone that came to visit.
She is survived by her son, Alex; granddaughters, Krisztina Tornyos, Jennifer Palmer and Lindsay Jakab and great-grandchildren Barni, Laura, David, Ziya and Vylet. She was predeceased by her loving husband Lajos and her two beautiful daughters Irene and Patricia. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
